LuBan is next-generation, generative CAD/CAM software that helps designers and makers in rapid production of their creations.
LuBan automatically generates 3D models in various forms, such as lithophane, stack, hash, plate, relief, module, and wireframe.
The generated model can be fabricated by 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC milling.

An adjustable vase-like shape is added. Through control points, the shape can take various different forms.
A new shape, spiral, enables the print of very large lithohphane. After printing, the spiral lithophane can be put in hot water and be reshaped to a long, flat lithophane.
Add edge support to flat and arc lithophane to reduce the out-of-plane movement during 3D printing. A tall flat lithophane is particularly sensitive to nozzle movement. With the edge support, a flat lithophane is more stable during printing and better results can be obtained.

LuBan has a unique license ID for each computer. The ID can be read by running LuBan and go to menu “Help -> About”.
All text in the line of License ID, includes the braces and OS information, is needed to register a license. An unregistered ID shows “Unlicensed”.

Simplify3D is slicing software that generates G-code from a mesh model to control a 3D printer to print the model. LuBan is mesh-processing software that generates parts of a model. The parts themselves may be mesh models for 3D printing; they may also be 2D drawings for laser cutting.
Both LuBan and MeshMixer can process triangular mesh models in OBJ, PLY, or STL format. MeshMixer is a manual modelling software tool. LuBan is automatic.
LuBan and Slicer have a few similar methods, such as the stacking and interlocking models. In every method of LuBan, a model can be resized larger than the working dimension of a machine. LuBan ensures that all parts of the model are generated within the dimension. Slicer does not guarantee this.
LuBan has a finger joint and a module method that is not available in Slicer. The finger joint method (Mesh -> LuBan, Method Plate) is useful to make wood joinery. The module method (Mesh -> LuBan, Method Module) is useful to make big 3D printed objects.
